1		AN ACT concerning safety.
2		Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3		represented in the General Assembly:
4		Section 5. The Interstate Mutual Emergency Aid Act is
5		amended by adding Section 12 as follows:
6		(5 ILCS 235/12 new)
7		Sec. 12. Emergency aid to bordering states.
8		Notwithstanding any provision of this Act to the contrary, any
9		public safety agency, including, but not limited to, a fire
10		department, a fire protection district, emergency medical
11		services, a municipal police department, a county sheriff's
12		department, a local emergency management agency, a local
13		public works department, or public or private contractors of
14		any such public safety agency, may provide assistance to any
15		other public safety agency in the State or in a bordering State
16		at the time of a disaster, such as a fire, earthquake, flood,
17		tornado, hazardous material incident, or other such disaster.
